Program for Drug Addiction

The Life Skills component of TGI focuses on empowering students with the knowledge they need to transition after drug addiction.

Phase One

Students will begin the task of self discovery as they gain valuable knowledge about drug addiction, relapse prevention techniques, and how to apply life-changing tools. They are responsible for daily participation in Level-One life skills training such as time management, money management, budgeting, resumes, and job skills. Students are required to participate in community service projects, attend classes onsite at TGI, and participate in AA/NA and group and individual work. In the evenings, students can complete any homework or school-related assignments.

Phase Two

Students are given more freedom and responsibility. Students are responsible for daily participation in Level Two life skills training such as checkbook, bank accounts, purchasing, rental agreements, moving, college or vocational classes, and internship and will continue onsite classes as well as classes at one of the local colleges. Internships help students acquire job skills that will enhance his ability to retain employment as he learns how to cope with the stresses in life, all in a safe supportive environment. They continue attending AA/NA meetings to maintain sobriety.

Phase Three

Students are given the opportunity to live more independently and exhibit responsibility in their day-to-day living. They are also required to maintain a job.
